She came into this world from an 18 year old mother, about two years ago. Adassa was traumatized by her mother. Beaten and neglected. She was in the hospital with malnutrition, anemia, and scabies, and would soon die, if someone did not help her.
I hoped that Kay Refij would be the perfect fit for Adassa! It is a home, full of love and security. Jimmy, (our amazing godly manager of Kay Refij), says “Our goal is to help orphans, neglected kids and very very poor kids grow up in dignity.”
I got to meet Adassa 2 weeks after she arrived at Kay Refij. Jimmy tells me, that when her mom dropped her off, she set Adassa down, turned around and walked out. Never looking back. And Adassa never bothered to look up and watch her mother go. She just sat there, staring on the ground. I can't even imagine! I asked if I could pick her up, and Jimmy said, yes, absolutely! I picked up this precious gift of God, and began to kiss her soft little cheeks. And low and behold… she leaned in for more! My heart was full. As the week went by, my team took turns loving on her, and we all got to experience moments of complete joy! We all could see her personality get bigger and bigger each day. Adassa is a perfect fit for Kay Refij, and another reason, this Mission Home is so needed, and is being blessed by God.
We are looking for people, that are willing to partner with us to help support the needs of taking care of Adassa. She needs formula/milk and diapers. This cost Kay Refij $55 a month, and this is not currently in their budget. But we trust, God will provide the right people to help us with that. If you are willing to help this need, please contact Porta Schut at 616-443-6775.
