Last year, our team went into the mountains to visit a church youth group. While we were sitting in the church, our team members, Alex and Joe, noticed a boy standing behind the church fence, peeking in.
In October, one of our precious children, SancaLucia, returned to her Mother. A few years back, Christina (SancaLucia's mother), and her boyfriend, became parents at a very young age. Not only were there struggles of being way too young to be parents, they also were unable to financially afford a baby. Then they realized that SancaLucia was having physical issues, they questioned if she would be able to ever walk, and they would not be able to afford the treatment she needed.
Out of desperation, SancaLucia's parents abandoned her, and she found herself at Kay Refij. During her 3 years at Kay Refij, SancaLucia received the help she needed, and is now walking and running! Praise Jesus! But more than that, her parents were able to grow up, get jobs, and get their lives together to become parents. This past September, SancaLucia's parents came to Kay Refij, and discussed the opportunity of taking their precious daughter home. In October, we praised Our Savior, for the reunification of a family, but we will miss her beyond measure! Praise God! This is what our ministry desires... Our little man is out of surgery and recovering... The Lord will sustain him upon his sickbed; in his illness, you restore him to health. Psalm 41:3
Update: Joidley has been having ear problems for sometime now and after multiple tries to heal his ear infections it was finally determined that he needed his tonsils to be removed. Now through much prayer and support from you guys we were able to get him the surgery he needs! We know he is home resting and recovering so he can heal properly from surgery! #Lovingkayrefij Aug 19, a team went to Montrouis Haiti, with plans to build a shop for a widow there. A little over a year ago, Madam Titi, a mother of six, lost her husband in a tragic moto accident, leaving her on her own. She lost her only source of income. Our team went there to help her. Our prayers were that God would bless us, lead us and that whatever he had planned, that we would be at peace with it. Our goal was to show this woman the amazing love of God. Madam Titi was not a Christian. We had hired an experienced Haitian to help us, but he did not show up. So we started without him. To our delight, Madam Titi, her kids, stepped in. Then the neighborhood kids started to help! Then people of the community joined in, once they knew what we were doing!! it was amazing!
While there, we visited the kids of Kay Refij, held a VBS in the mountains, and visited the farm that was being built to support Kay Refij. By the end of our trip, we were able to fill Madam Titi's shop with items to sell. On Saturday, we prayed over her and her business, and asked God to bless this work. On Sunday , Aug 27, we prepared our team for church, but realized we needed to hang Madam Titi's sign on her shop. While we were doing that Madam Titi's son came to us, and said that she wanted us all to know that she was going to church!!! This brought me to tears. This trip was one of the most amazing trips I have been on! The people of the community, came to see us off, the day we left, and everyone was in tears. This team and the community had bonded together, through God, to bless us and Madam Titi. I am so proud to be a part of this! In December of 2018. Loving Kay Refij brought down a team to help build cabinets and countertops in the kitchen. Through loving donations and fundraising, we were able to buy the orphanage a gas range to cook on, and a large freezer for storage! What a blessing it has been that the workers no longer cook outside. #Lovingkayrefij
Weaver Dentistry of Grand Rapids MI. partnered with us, in a 6 month campaign to make Haiti green again! They gave their patients opportunity to donate toward the purchase of lemon and lime trees for a local Haitian farm. Our goal for the farm, is that it will grow to provide food and profit for the orphanage of Kay Refij, and jobs for the community. Making self sustainable income for the orphanage, and people in the city of Montrouis.
Our goal is to plant 3000 trees. If your office is interested in supporting this campaign, please contact us! We would love to get you started. #Lovingkayrefij #makehaitigreenagain For the last two years, we have realized that our ministry is in need of a vehicle. Something that can transport the kids to and from the doctor and church. Something that we can take to the farm to transport food, and bring teams to visit the farm. It has been a prayer of ours for a while. Little did we know that God had a plan! I was contacted by a college student from Georgia Gwinnett College, Josh West. He heard about our nonprofit, and after researching he and 3 of his classmates chose to do a fundraiser to support us. They chose to sell Crispy Crème Donuts on the campus and to friends and family. Between their sales and peoples generous donations, they were able to raise enough funds for us to purchase the perfect vehicle for our nonprofit. FROM SELLING DONUTS!!!!! God is so good!
Meet Adassa!!
She came into this world from an 18 year old mother, about two years ago. Adassa was traumatized by her mother. Beaten and neglected. She was in the hospital with malnutrition, anemia, and scabies, and would soon die, if someone did not help her. I hoped that Kay Refij would be the perfect fit for Adassa! It is a home, full of love and security. Jimmy, (our amazing godly manager of Kay Refij), says “Our goal is to help orphans, neglected kids and very very poor kids grow up in dignity.” |
